QR codes are everywhere now. Seriously, everywhere.

How to make a QR code? My method

Very easy.

Step 1 - Decide what you want inside QR. What should happen when someone scans?

Website? Which page exactly? Contact page? Menu? Instagram? Form? Decide first.

Static vs Dynamic QR - this confused me at first

Static QR - info is directly inside QR. Like URL is inside. If you want to change URL later, you need to make new QR and print again.

Dynamic QR - QR points to some middle link that you can change later. So you can update destination without changing printed QR. Also some dynamic services give analytics - how many people scanned, when, from where.

But not every free generator gives dynamic. For simple use like website, text, contact - static is enough. Free.

Does QR need internet?

Depends.

If QR contains plain text like "Hello, my name is Ali", then no internet needed, phone just shows text.

But if QR contains website link, then yes you need internet to open that website. QR only stores URL, not the whole website inside. It just tells phone where to go.

How big should QR be?

No fixed size. Depends on many things.

Golden rule I follow: test at actual size and actual distance where people will use it. Don't just test on laptop screen and think it will work when printed small on visiting card.

Keep good contrast

QR needs to be easy to read for camera.

Traditional black on white is best because contrast high.

If you make fancy colors like light yellow on white, or light grey on white, camera can't read. Beautiful QR that doesn't scan is useless.

Function first, design second.

Leave empty space around QR

QR needs quiet zone - empty space around it. Like breathing room.

If you put text or images touching QR, scanner gets confused. It can't tell where QR starts and ends.

So when you put QR on poster, business card, packaging - leave some white space around. Especially if background is busy with images.

Always test, always

I say this again because it's important.

Before you print 500 brochures, test scanning.

Check:

Does camera detect it quickly?

Does correct page open?

URL correct?

Page mobile friendly? Because people scan with phone, not laptop.

Surrounding design not blocking?

If you skip testing and URL is wrong, all 500 prints waste.
